Yard Waste


The Site is Open Every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April through November 

  • Municipal Sticker is required and can be purchased for $20 at Selectmen's office, Town Hall, 4 School St.  A valid vehicle registration must be presented at the time of purchase.
  • Open April  4, 2020 through November 28, 2020 (weather permitting).
  • Grass, clippings, and leaves accepted every Saturday.  Additionally, brush is accepted on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month.
  • Brush will be allowed every Saturday.
  • Christmas Trees accepted on Saturday, January 9, 2021 and January 16, 2021. Note: Tree drop off is at Mill Street siteSticker is not required for Christmas Tree drop off.


Battis Road is the Yard Waste site for 2020.

The Yard Waste Site is located on Battis Road, take Church Street which becomes Highland Road, and Battis Road is the last left just before the New Hampshire border.

Town Stickers Required

The yard waste site is for residents only and is not for commercial use. Town stickers are required for making drop offs. Town stickers must be renewed yearly. Residents can purchase town stickers at the Selectmen's office for $25 per vehicle. A valid vehicle registration must be presented at the time of purchase.  Pay for yard waste permits online with Unipay.  (additional fees apply)  Must email registration to selectmen@townofmerrimac.com 

The Board of Selectmen's office has partnered with Unibank to be able to provide online payment options to its residents. With this service, you will be able to pay for your yard waste site sticker by using your credit/debit card or by using your bank account and emailing your vehicle registration. You can pick up your sticker at the Selectmen's office or have it mailed to you. (Additional .50 for postage applies. Please allow 3-5 business days for mailing). 

Those over 65 and older must come to the office to pick up their sticker or provide license and registration information to have it mailed. 

Leaves, Grass, & Clippings

Acceptable items include leaves, grass, and clippings. No garbage allowed. Take all bags with you.

Brush Collection

Brush will be allowed  every Saturday.  Acceptable items include only brush. No roots, dirt, trash, or trunks over 3 inches diameter will be accepted. Lay sticks and branches neatly in piles. The site monitor has the authority to refuse drop off of unacceptable materials. Please help keep the site open by following the rules for drop off.

White Goods

White goods(appliances) are no longer accepted at Yard Waste Site. Curbside pick-up for fee on the first Friday of the month is provided by Casella. Bulk stickers to be purchased at the Selectmen's Office. Cost is $20 per item.
