MISSION STATEMENT

The Board of Assessors has 3 members who are elected by the town residents to serve a term of 3 years.

The office of the Assessors is responsible to list and value all real and personal property as of January 1 by Massachusetts law. All assessed values in Massachusetts are based on “full and fair” cash value. The assessors are responsible for meeting the certification requirement of the Department of Revenue. To meet these requirements, the Assessors are obligated to revalue all properties yearly, and once every five years undergo a state recertification audit.

TAX RATE

Tax Rate for Fiscal Year 2024: $13.50 per $1,000

MOTOR VEHICLE EXCISE ABATEMENT

You are still responsible for paying your entire bill by the due date. 

Filing for an abatement does not stay the collection of your taxes.  To avoid interest, charges and collection process you must pay your tax bill on time. Please submit abatement application and related documents.  Abatement will not be processed without proper documentation per MA State law. Refunds take 4-6 weeks to process.

PROPERTY ASSESSMENTS/OWNERSHIP
To search for your property assessment or to print a property card, scroll below to “Quick Links” then click on PATRIOT PROPERTIES. Patriot Property inspectors are in town reviewing Real Estate and Personal Property throughout the year for open building permits, new construction or cyclical review.

VALUATIONS
Real estate and personal property are valued as of January 1st of the calendar year for the Fiscal Year which runs from July 1st to June 30th of the following year.

Fee of $30 is due at time of request.  Checks can be mailed to office with request.

REAL ESTATE or PERSONAL PROPERTY ABATEMENT

Applications can only be submitted between January 1 until February 1 according to Massachusetts State Law.  Applications cannot be received prior to that date or after that date. There are NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
